π MMR TEAM BALANCING UPDATE!
Quick transparency post on our new MMR system for SQL and whatβs going into effect this weekend!
Yes, the rumors are TRUE β we have decided to close our Lower Division for now to see how Lower Division players perform in more balanced matches within the Open Division, using MMR-based team seeding.
Combining the Lower and Open divisions will also decrease queue times, creating a better experience for everyone.
πTEAM BALANCING
MMR does NOT control weekly payouts.
- Weekly payouts are still based on weekly points.
- MMR only affects team seeding.
Everyone will still gain points exactly the same as before this system goes into effect.

- Weekly Scores: https://www.cce.gg/ranking/
Each match contains 50β60 solo players. We now use MMR to build balanced teams of 3, with team totals as close as possible to prevent stacked teams and keep lobbies fair. This means whether you are high MMR or low MMR, your team will be balanced against every other team in the lobby.
π― STARTING MMR
New players receive a base MMR from their Apex Rank, which then corrects quickly once they begin playing games in our system.
- Gold 4: 1200 MMR | Plat 4: 1450 MMR | Diamond 4: 2100 MMR
- Gold 3: 1250 MMR | Plat 3: 1525 MMR | Diamond 3: 1900 MMR
- Gold 2: 1300 MMR | Plat 2: 1600 MMR | Diamond 2: 2000 MMR
- Gold 1: 1350 MMR | Plat 1: 1675 MMR | Diamond 1: 2100 MMR
- Master: 2250 MMR | Apex Predator: 2400 MMR
π WHAT CHANGES MMR
Your MMR updates using real live-match results and stats from SQL games.
MMR is affected by:
- Placement
- Kills
- Assists
- Damage
- Survival Time
Current Configured Weights
- Placement: 40%
- Kill Points: 40%
- Damage: 10%
- Survival Time: 10%
β NEW PLAYERS VS ESTABLISHED SQL PLAYERS
Weβve implemented systems such as K-Factor (MMR Change Speed).
- New players gain or lose MMR much faster so they can reach their true skill rating quickly.
- After ~25 matches, MMR adjustments slow down and match the same rate as other established players.
πΆ UNDERDOG RULES
Simple explanation:
- If you are a low-MMR player in a stacked lobby and perform really well, you will gain a lot of MMR.
- If you are a high-MMR player in a mostly low-MMR lobby and perform poorly, you will lose more MMR.
This helps reward strong performances against tougher opponents.
βοΈ CONTINUED BALANCING
If your matches feel unbalanced this weekend, please post your match link in #SUPPORT and explain what felt off. We will be actively reviewing matches and tuning the seeding system as we gather more data.
